Life in Barcelona?

No, no, don't worry the idea of this post is not to inform you that I've decided to move to sunny, warm and lovely Barcelona (although in few weeks I'll have someting to confess you ;)) but to simply show you how cool life can be when you find the place you feel you belong. And for some people it can be the magical and colorful Barcelona!

I know, I know - going for holidays and actually living in a  particular place (working, paying the rent, commuting) this are two different things. But somehow I believe it's just easier to deal with all the mess and hardships of the city life when we choose a place that actually match us and meets our needs. Barcelona for example is a perfect place for people like me - I have experienced that quite intensively during my last visit there.

First of all: the weather there is just amazing! There are kilometers of sandy beaches within the city area and some hills perfect for hiking just nearby. Those who like riding a bike will not be disappointed neighter - Barcelona has fully integrated bike lanes.

La Boqueria market (and many other small markets) offers a wide range of super amazing fruit salads and smoothies in all colours of the rainbow. In general, access to the fresh and tasty fruits and veggies is easy.

The city is rich in art, museums, festivities and cultural events. Plus, Barcelona is simply beautiful from the architectural point of view - with its colorful mosaics and fairy-tale style architecture of Gaudi and his followers. It's actually very hard not to fall in love with this place. Just take a look:

From the pictures I've posted it may seem that Barcelona is so chaotic because different architectonical styles and trends adjacent to each other. But you know what? For me it's actually an adventage! In Barcelona you can visit the old gothic district (Barri Gothic) with magnificent cathedral and within a 10 minutes walk enjoy the Barcelona Modernista. How cool is that?

As for me, the best  place in Barcelona is Tibidabo mountain with a real architectural gem: a lovely Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus - a church that looks like two churches built on one another. The lower crypte is covered with colourful paintings and I am simply in love with this place!

The view from Tibidabo is breathtaking, although I must admit none of my photos are able to show the beauty of it. I think it means you have to just go there and see it by yourself... Who knows maybe you will have the same feelings toward Barcelona as I do?

Despite the subway workers strikes, hords of tourits and high prices Barcelona is on my list of the best places to live. How about you?
