Is Florence turning into Venice

Image
Florence...the city of art, architecture and love...   Florence, 2016 Wait, wait haven't I wrote that about Venice?  Yes, I have and I must admit that this description suits well both places. Florence, just like Venice, is full of remarkable works of art and architecture. The wealth of former republics, have created the great environment to built this beautiful, powerful and influential cities. And nowadays both Venice and Florence are filled with this atmosphere of excitement and mistery, that derives from the good (for some), old days. But when making such a comparison similarity of a rather different nature occurs to me. It seems that Florence is turning into the city-museum, a sort of a ghost town, that's alive mainly thanks to the countless tourists that are wandering tirelessly the narrow old streets. Just like Venice, the city center is being abandoned by the original residents, the Florentines, who choose to live outside the city. The reasons are ...

I know, it has been a long time since my last post, but I am back, so relax and enjoy ;) Santa Maria del Fiore, Florence 2016 Ok, the title of this post is not suppose to insult anyone. It's just inspired by a facebook fanpage that collects the pictures of churches that somehow reminds not very noble animal: a hen. You can see it here I must say, sacral architecture is my thing - I like to discover temples and feel the unique atmosphere each of them have. The thing is that for me modern churches do n't look good. Keep calm and come to Cracow

Image
Almost a decade ago I was about to make a life-determining decision: I had to choose between two universities that accepted my application, one located in Katowice and the other one in Cracow. I made my decision in just a few seconds, based solely on the fact that Cracow seemed to be so awesome. If you wanna know if I regret it, keep calm and continue reading ;) Living in Cracow for almost 10 years is a fascinating adventure that consist of continuous struggles with flat owners, public transportation, smog, flatmates,  high prices and hords of tourists. Since I try to travel as much as possible in recent years I am able to notice the things that distinguish Cracow among other popular European destinations. And so I am able to point just few reasons why it's worth to visit Cracow ...and maybe even stay for longer... Reason 1 - the people Frankly I don't know that many Cracow natives, but I have meet here really, I mean REALLY amazing people. Since Cracow is ...

Frank Sinatra knows exactly how to make an evening inspiring and pleasant. Just listen to him and you will see ;) Frank rocks Today I would like to share with you few of the moments from 2015, that were simply amazing. And I'm gonna do this with this few pictures and memories that stick to them, and will forever warm my heart. To be clear, I'm not doing it to show you how super-duper my life was/is. I am actually doing for myself to remember about it. After all, it's so easy to forget that life is what we make of it (Coehlo would be so proud of me...;)) But seriously, I want to remember myself that I should be constantly grateful because I'm constantly blessed with the greatest gifts of: friendship, open mind and tireless spirit that is still young (although body is getting old way too fast...)   Yes, despite the few very, very dark moments it was a good year, not only for a small town girl like me... I wanna thank all of my friends for being with me whe...
